Problem installing daapd on Debian/Woody

I guess the C libraries are outdated, I get the following error message during "make":

db.cc: In method `void Database::parsePls(Container &, bool = false)': db.cc:535: no matching function for call to `basic_string<char,string_char_traits<char>,__default_alloc_template<true,0> >::compare (int, int, const char[5])' /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-linux/2.95.4/../../../../include/g++-3/std/bastring.cc:398: candidates are:...

anyone a clue how to fix this?

Poblems with iTunes 4.9 on Mac

Using DAAPD 0.2.4a / Mac OS 10.4.2 / Sep 2, 2005 I could connect to the DAAPD server with iTunes 4.8 from a different subnet using Rendezvous Proxy on Windows 2000 or Network Beacon on Mac OS 10.3 or 10.4. After upgrading iTunes to version 4.9, I can still connect and play songs from the Windows PC, but I can no longer do so from Mac (OS 10.3 or 10.4) using Rendezvous Proxy or Network Beacon. Can someone confirm if DAAPD fails to work with iTunes 4.9 for Mac?

Rendezvous Proxy and SP2

Hi I used to use rendezvous proxy to access the music on my home computer from work, since updating the home computer to SP2 this is no longer possible, does anybody why this is so and possibly what can be done about it?. Aug 2005.

 * Have you checked out the Windows Firewall settings? Perhaps it's blocking RP?

Yes I have it dosn't work even with windows firewall totally off, I though maybe some genius in here could find the problem. Besides that why isn't Rendezvous proxy being developed anymore?, I am sure that I am not the only one that can find a use for it?

 * I had a somewhat similar problem in Windows 2000. Have you tried reinstalling RP?

Also, try updating the Java (www.sun.com). If still no-go, try downloading Bonjour for Windows (Rendezvous is now Bonjour) and use it to set up a proxy. How? Sorry, I do not know but check the web. http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/bonjourforwindows_readme.html

*Programs that connect to IP addresses that are in the loopback address range may not work as you expect in Windows XP Service Pack 2:

Not sure if this is relevant but SP2 broke most applications that redirect traffic to a loopback ip. This reaks havoc with anything like ipsec clients, SSL-VPN, possibly Rendezvous? MS made a patch distributed here. http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=884020

Debian

Hi. Debian dropped DAAPD! What do I do now?

Music Library

Daapd works great for me, but most id3 tags of my mp3s are broken. However, I have arranged all files very carefully into subdirectories, so you can get the artist, name, album, (disc)number, year etc. from the path. Can daapd build the library from that data instead of the id3 tags, or let me build an xml library (iTunes style) and let daapd use it?
